When you receive an e-mail you think is a scam: If they provide a URL link to answer them in the e-mail, simply hover above the link and in the status bar in your browser (all the way down), you should see some kind of lengthy and complex URL...like http://scamforyou/etrgedfuzeghr/253645423..Well it seems obvious, doesn't it? This is a sign that it is a scam and you should not click on it in any case. Another way is to display the full e-mail description. In Yahoo! Mail, you can do this easily. Sometimes I receive some translations asked by translators themself I see the ad on ProZ and the "real" company gives, let's say 0.08 $ per word, and then I get an email with the translator that gives me the same details and the same day of the offer I saw and give me 0.06$ for it, are they telling they're the ones who translate the text and make 0.02 $ a word ??? That's ridiculous !! Let me know if someone had experienced the same thing, | |

Don't click on "unwanted mail" links in spam | Jan 18, 2011 |
A previous poster said he did this with unwanted spam, but if it really is spam (and not just unwanted advertising material from a genuine company), this is really not a good idea.
It will at best confirm to the spammer that your address is legitimate and thus set you up for more spam. At worst, by clicking on a link in a spam email you will be clicking through to a virus or other unwanted content. Just ignore!

Your Payment as been mailed out and should get to you within 5 - 7 working Days. Kindly keep me posted as soon as the Payment gets to you. My Secretary however sent me a receipt invoice of the Payment I instructed to be made out to you. I am displease to say I noticed an error on the receipt invoice of the Payment that was mailed out to you. I contacted the Postal Service requesting that the Mail be called back for correction but the Postal Service confirmed that your Mail Package has already been Mailed out and could not be called back in. I am sincerely sorry and I felt so embarrassed about the huge error made by my Secretary on the payment, not to think of the delay or inconvenience this may cause you in any way. I humbly take the whole blame and ask that you kindly forgive me for this huge inconvenience. I sincerely do not know how you would feel about this situation and the inconvenience I may be putting you through and I sure would never hold any thing against you if you feel uncomfortable with this situation. If it isn't too much to ask, I would sincerely appreciate it If you could work with me on this in spite of the error made on your payment to avoid any delay. Please understand you have my total confident in trusting you to handle this situation when the Payment gets to you. Please kindly deduct your payment as we agreed and send the rest back because we have other relevant projects that need urgent actions financially. I will be very grateful if this could be done asap.Kindly send the remaining back via western union and get back with the Money Transaction Control Number(MTCN). Necessary details information on where and how to refund me the excess would be provided to you. For the inconvenience I would be putting you through and trusting you to sincerely handle my funds, I humbly request you deduct $50 for your inconvenience. sincerely am so sorry for the situation and inconvenience I would be putting you through. Hi all, just wanted to say what I did in case this happens to someone else.
I just spoke to a friend who is a lawyer and he recommended to me to go to the Police and tell them about it. They said that probably I would not get any check but if I did, I should just bring it to them. The important thing is not to cash the cheque and of course not to send any money anywhere. | | | Post removed: This post was hidden by a moderator or staff member for the following reason: Poster requested removal of accidental duplicate posting |
