Thermal efficiency of windows
This concerns the energy efficiency of windows. I have looked it up and I think the abbreviation might be SHGC in English, but could anyone please confirm this?
Thank you

SHGC or G value (unshaded)
I start with the French Wikipedia page added to BDs translation of Sw https://www.proz.com/kudoz/french-to-english/construction-ci...
https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facteur_solaire
Solar gain through windows includes energy transmitted directly through the glass and energy absorbed by the glass and frame and then re-radiated into the space.
:
G-value (sometimes also called a Solar Factor or Total Solar Energy Transmittance) is the coefficient commonly used in Europe to measure the solar energy transmittance of windows. Despite having minor differences in modeling standards compared to the SHGC, the two values are effectively the same. A g-value of 1.0 represents full transmittance of all solar radiation while 0.0 represents a window with no solar energy transmittance. In practice though, most g-values will range between 0.2 and 0.7, with solar control glazing having a g-value of less than 0.5
Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC)
SHGC is the successor to the shading coefficient used in the United States and it is the ratio of transmitted solar radiation to incident solar radiation of an entire window assembly. It ranges from 0 to 1 and refers to the solar energy transmittance of a window or door as a whole, factoring in the glass, frame material, sash (if present), divided lite bars (if present) and screens (if present).[2] The transmittance of each component is calculated in a similar manner to the shading coefficient. However, in contrast to the shading coefficient, the total solar gain is calculated on a wavelength-by-wavelength basis

Calculating the Effect of External Shading on the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient of Windows
:
The Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) is a common metric for characterizing the amount of solar gain that enters through a building component. It is most relevant for non-opaque parts of the building envelope such as windows and skylights. It is defined as the ratio of the incident solar radiation and the heat gain through the building component due to this solar gain.
:
We can quantify the effect that the shade is having on the SHGC of the window by calculating the SHGC of the window without shades and the aSHGC with external shades in place
[formule]
Where 𝑄unshaded is the amount of solar energy transmitted through the window due to the incident solar radiation without a shade. 𝐼dir+diff, unshaded is the total amount of solar radiation that is incident on the window without the presence of an external shade. Of note is that the aSHGC value is calculated with the unshaded incident solar radiation. This is the key aspect in calculating the adjusted SHGC (aSHGC) value, which indicates the SHGC of the window with a shade present.
:
Conclusion
The presented method uses two standard tools (EnergyPlus and Berkeley Lab WINDOW) to calculate a seasonal weighted adjusted SHGC which accounts for the effect of external shading. This method can be referenced by building codes to allow them to properly account for the effect of a shade on the SHGC of a window.

I conclude from this that the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient of Windows (SHGC) is in fact the term researched and equals to the G value. This is also confirmed by the given definition:
Swsp: Facteur solaire pour les fenêtres sans protection (le facteur solaire Swsp indique le pourcentage de chaleur solaire collectée par la fenêtre vers l'intérieur du logement).
Or in English:
SHGC: Solar factor for unshaded windows (the SHGC solar factor indicates the percentage of solar heat collected by the window towards the inside of the dwelling).
(the SHGC considers the whole window, i.e. panes and frames)
while aSHGC is the shaded equivalent. I see no real difference between « Sw » and « Swsp ». Both are translated by "SHGC or G value" depending on the target country.

Based on the highlighted indices I can retain my proposal, and apply it to the specific application:
- Bare window, door or French window with closure or sunshade
- with air or gas layer, closure, internal or external blind or between glazing
- and opaque panel.

: NB The American SHGC is similar but not identical to the Sw or g-value. I believe that the Sw and g-value both conform to the European standard. Also, Britain, being colder, favours a higher g-value (0.5 to 0.7) than France (0.45)

Similar and identical for practical use. It's ot a matter of belief, but of research. We do not discuss what g value is preferred in different contries, either.

: That is the US version of a solar factor, which isn't exactly the same as the European one. The British G-value is, I believe, based on the European standard. Also, it doesn't answer the question for Swsp.

Discussion
They do not change the amount of solar radiation, but only serve to distinguish the individual components according to their construction in a comprehensive energy balance calculation.

"The g-value ... is a measure of how much solar heat is being allowed in through the window. The lower the figure, the less solar heat transferring from outside to in, whereas a higher figure will allow more in.
G-value = total solar heat gain / incident solar radiation"
https://treenergy.fr/definition/

This value relies on several factors. First of all, it depends on thermal insulation parameters of both the whole structure (Uw value) and the glass itself. The greater the amount of solar heat passed, the higher the value of Sw factor is.
The window design with the high Sw factor satisfies the condition of applicability for passive heating buildings. The module is useful primarily for manufacturers of windows who export their products or have their retail outlets throughout the European Union.
