or something to that effect?

Context:
One of a list of core messages the marketing department should use to promote the fact that the company is an innovative leader. [Name] is the company founder.

I would stick as closely as possible to the original text, "Innovations stood at the beginning of X's influence." They must think that the innovations were more important than the person, otherwise the sentence would have been written otherwise. Wait and see what the others say.
