agree Andy Watkinson : Very popular around here and regularly used where I live even for the "foc a terra" itself - i.e. fireplace. Or to start a fire before adding pine, oak..etc..

It is as vague as the original, leaving the meat in question up in the air. I think grape vine is better than just vine.

Technically, "brasa" are the embers of the vine cuttings. This may be a bit over-long to place in a one-line item on a menu, but if it will fit, there is a difference.
