the amateurish and ill-intentioned press

It's not likely I will end up with any points for this since "gutter press" already has 8 agrees.

However, I think this suggestion sounds good and is a more literal translation, so if you want a more verbose option with that little extra sting that only big words can sometimes provide, you could consider this one.
