Spanish term
luz cruda
Spanish to English
Art/Literary
Photography/Imaging (& Graphic Arts)
Context: Photography course.
Se utilizan varios términos diferentes para describir la iluminación: dura, **cruda**, suave, difusa, plana etc.
I thought of **raw light**, but sounds too much literal and couldn't find any reference in the Net yet.
Thanks!!

natural lighting
Es posible que sea "natural" ya que una de las acepciones de "crudo" es "natural".

The edge marks the transition from highlight to the shadow. If the shadow has a sharp edge, the light is harsh. Now think of shadows cast on a sunny day. They are very defined. The earlier photographs of Marie as seen in Figures 4.4 and 4.6 are made with **harsh light**. The edges of the shadows cast by her nose and chin are very sharp.

Glare from **bare light** sources are both easy to see and to avoid. Other sources of glare may not be obvious until lighting schemes are completed

Basically, all your light needs to be either diffused (shoot-through brolly, softbox, diffuser), or else bounced (reflective brolly, white card, reflector, walls/ceiling). I can't think of a situation where you would ever use **bare light** on the subject.
