Gale force winds from a very strong cold front pushed the ash cloud north and reached NSW on Tuesday last week. Around 3pm, Sydney airport came to a stand still. Domestic and International flights were cancelled or delayed. Some flights departed a few hours earlier to avoid the situation. Once again Qantas decided to put his passengers safety first and cancelled both domestic and international flights. Virgin Australia, Jetstar and Tiger Airways made similar decisions. Source text - English Since the origin of Mankind communication have always been a very important part of life. From gestures to sounds we've always felt the need to communicate with others. This was the beginning of the best tool we could ever have … LANGUAGE. This communication developed differently from region to region and tribe to tribe. For example, the Romans used to call "Barbarians" to every civilization who didn't speak their language, Latin. The reason for that, historians say, was the way their languages sounded. According to ancient historians, Julius Ceaser used to say that people from other tribes and civilizations always sounded like "Ba ba baba" and for that reason he called them Barbarians. The Roman Empire expanded to almost all Europe and Latin became its official language. In fact, this was a common phenomenon throughout History. Europe was colonized by the Romans adopting (or being forced to adopt) their language. Later countries like England, France, Spain, Portugal and others colonized other countries who also adopted their languages, creating another problem. How could we communicate with each other if we all used a different code? We needed to build a bridge between all different codes. TRANSLATION is that bridge and translators are passionate workers who built it brick by brick until it’s finished, so a new link is established between two languages and cultures. It's not an easy task, you got to have knowledge of both sides of that bridge, so you can build it with the best bricks you have. The world of translation is made of all those bridges. Although several countries in the world may use the same language, each one of them has its own culture; therefore, that same language that link them developed in a different way for each one of them, so you need to look at their culture and that development before even trying to make a connection with another language. We are proud to be some of those workers who keep building bridges between cultures around the world.
