The first side effect I noticed was the hair thinning. By the way, it’s not just the hair on your head, your eyebrows and eyelashes that go. It affects all hair. Armpit, leg hair, the lot. The weirdest thing was noticing that even the hair in my nostrils fell out!		Translation - Finnish
Ensimmäinen sivuvaikutus jonka huomasin oli hiusten ohentuminen. Se ei muuten rajoitu pelkästään hiuksiin, silmäripsiin ja kulmakarvoihin. Se vaikuttaa kaikkeen karvoitukseen. Kainalokarvoihin, karvoihin jaloissa, aivan kaikkeen. Kaikista oudoin oli huomata että jopa nenäkarvat tippuivat!

Jos joku olisi sanonut minulle lokakuussa 2019 että parin vuoden päästä olisin pyöräillyt Nuorgamesta Espanjaan, olisin nauranut.

Olinhan juuri saanut loppuun syöpähoidot jotka koettelivat sekä kroppaa että mieltä. Mutta sekä kropalla että mielellä on uskomaton kyky toipua kun niille vain antaa mahdollisuuden.

Translation - English
If someone had said to me in OCtober 2019 that in a few years time I would have cycled from Nuorgam to Spain, I would have laughed.

I had only just finished cancer treatments that was tough on both the body and the mind. But both the body and the mind have an incredible ability to recover when given the chance.

Bio

My professional background is in teaching and I have taught in primary schools in London for the last sixteen years. I have a PGCE in Primary Education from the University of Brighton and a BA(Hons) in Theatre Studies and English Literature from the University of North London. 

I grew up in Finland, but moved to London when I was eighteen. I lived there for 26 years until following a cancer diagnosis (I am now three years cancer free!) and then the COVID pandemic, my partner and I decided to try something different and moved to north of Finland! I also left the classroom behind to become a translator and a writer. 

I have written a dual timeline fiction book which is with potential agents at the moment. I also write short stories and a blog Cycling For Cancer.
