הגוף שלנו הוא רק קליפה שתפקידה לשמור שמחשבותינו לא יתרוצצו ללא השגחה.
במצב נפשי מסוים, נניח פסיכוזה, הגוף חדל לתפקד במתכונתו הנורמלית, ומה שנותר הוא מחשבות ללא רסן, ללא עוגן. מחשבות שמרחפות בחוסר מודעות לסביבה, כי הן מתקיימות ללא מחשבות של אחרים. יש שם בדידות מחשבתית. כל רעיון שעולה הוא הדבר היחיד שמתקיים ולכן הוא אמת מוחלטת באותו רגע.
כשהמציאות נסוגה ומתפוררת, מה שנשאר הוא הסיוט הכי גרוע שאפשר לחלום אותו, אלא שאנחנו ערים.

רציתי להתפתל על השטיח המשונה שלך

מבלבל בטירוף
אתה יודע, אף פעם לא ראיתי מישהו מתפרק אצלך. חוץ מהקפה שנשפך לי על הרצפה, לא ראיתי שום בלגן או לכלוך. הכול כל כך מסודר ורגוע. זה כמעט לא יכול להיות. הרי החיים לא נראים ככה. לא יכול להיות שכל מי שמגיע אליך שרוי במצב כל כך טוב, שהוא יושב לו בנחת ומתלוצץ איתך, מפטפט על איך שהוא מרגיש. חי עם איך שהוא מרגיש. כי אני מתה עם איך שאני מרגישה.
אני לא צריכה להתפרק אצלך כי אני ממילא כל הזמן מפורקת. כמו בובת חלון ראווה שכבר אי אפשר לחבר את האיברים שלה. ובפעם היחידה שרציתי להביע את המפורקות הזאת, לא הרשית לי. רציתי להתפתל על השטיח המשונה שלך, עם השערות הפרועות שלו בגוון ירוק-רמז-לבית-חולים, ולא נתת לי כי זה לא מה שעושים אצלך. אצלך הכול מסודר, כמעט. כמעט מעונב אפילו, אבל רק כמעט, כי בכל זאת בנפש עסקינן, ולכן אתה לא עונב עניבה. מסתפק בז'קט חצי אלגנטי וחולצה מכופתרת, מרושלת מעט, מתחתיו. מקפיד על סתירות כאלה שמשאירות מקום לספק. גם בתכשיטים שלך קיים הפער הזה. יקר-ערך לעומת פחות-ערך.

אז אני, בגלל מצבי הדו-קוטבי, רואה גם וגם. לפי המצב הנפשי הרגעי שלי אני יכולה לראות אותך כאריסטוקרט החכמולוג שיודע הכול, ואז אני ממש קטנה וטיפשה לידך, או כפשוט-העם החברמן שאפשר להסתחבק איתו ולפגוש אותו בגובה העיניים. הכול לפי צו השעה. אה, כן, ולפעמים אני אפילו האלוהים שמשקיף עליך מלמעלה, אבל זה קורה במקרים נדירים, כי אתה מייד מעלה לי את המינונים של כל מיני תרופות ומוסיף לי שתיים-שלוש חדשות ליתר ביטחון. תכלס, זה מבלבל בטירוף.
אולי תבחר כבר מה אתה רוצה להיות כשתהיה גדול?

Translation - English Prologue
Our body is just a shell meant to keep our thoughts from running around unsupervised.
In a certain mental state, say, psychosis, the body ceases to function in its normal capacity and what is left are unrestrained, unanchored thoughts. Thoughts drifting, unaware of their surroundings, because they exist without the thoughts of others. There is loneliness of thought there. Every idea that comes up is the only thing that exists, and therefore it is absolute truth at that moment.
When reality recedes and disintegrates, what is left is the worst nightmare dream-able, yet we are awake.
Chapter 1
I wanted to writhe on your strange carpet
It started with a strange blur. A sort of distortion in the field of vision, in the corner of the right eye. I got anxious. It happened when I left the house with Dotan on my way to the local café to meet a friend. He was five months old. It took me a few minutes to get it together, and remember that it’s called an ‘Aura’, and people who suffer from migraines experience it. That is, normal people. I’ve suffered from them since I was twenty-two. I already knew I was in postpartum depression, but till then it was under control. As someone who has a lot of experience with these things, I didn’t consider getting medical help. When I started having sparkles of psychosis, a few hours later – which was also familiar to me from my previous delivery, that of Tavor, my eldest, twelve years before – it was already clear to me that the situation requires external intervention. I learned my lesson. So I called him. I found him randomly (if there is such a thing), in a virtual phone-book, after several attempts with other doctors closer to my residence. I preferred a female but didn’t find one. From the first minute he looked strange to me, but I suppose all psychiatrists look strange, especially to patients who are by definition abnormal. After a while I began writing him emails. He encouraged it and praised my writing. So I continued.
I had no choice.

Insanely confusing
You know, I never saw anyone fall apart in your clinic. Except for the coffee I spilled on the floor, I didn’t see any mess or disorder. Everything is so neat and calm. It practically can’t be real. Life, after all, doesn’t look like that. It’s not possible that every person who comes to you is in such a great state of mind, that they sit pleasantly and joke around with you, chatting about how they feel. Living with how they feel. Because I’m dying with how I feel.
I don’t need to fall apart in your clinic because I’m already scattered all the time. Like a manikin whose limbs can no longer be put back together. And the only time I wanted to show it, you wouldn’t let me. I wanted to writhe on your strange carpet, with its hospital-hinting-green shaded wild hairs, and you didn’t let me because it’s not what you do over there. Everything is orderly there, almost. Almost tie-formal even, but only almost, because, we are dealing with the mind after all, and so you don’t wear a tie. Make do with a semi-elegant jacket and a buttoned shirt, hanging out of your pants, underneath. Meticulously maintaining such contradictions that leave room for doubt. You have this gap in jewelry as well. Expensive versus inexpensive.
While you play a role moving from an intellectual figure, the respectable man with the Harvard ring, to the nutty guy with the protruding shirt and the gothic-heavy-metal-style necklace, whoever sits across from you is required to interpret you according to these characteristics that don’t mix. Never mind, we only see what we’re capable of seeing anyway.
So I, due to my bipolar condition, see both. According to my momentary mental state I can see you as the all-knowing wise-ass aristocrat, and then I’m very small and stupid compared to you, or as the friendly commoner you can be chums with and meet at eye-level. All according to the order-of-the-day. Oh yes, and sometimes I’m even the god that observes you from above, but that happens on rare occasions, because you immediately raise the doses on all sorts of drugs and add on two or three just in case.
Bottom line, it’s insanely confusing.
Why don’t you choose what you want to be when you grow up already.
All this amuses you. In general, everything I write amuses you, right? As long as it’s not clinically suspicious. So you read “some of it, but not all”, as you make sure to warn me. Sometimes you talk to me about something I wrote, so I’d know you’ve read it, but it says nothing of the rest. My friend Arava asked me why I don’t ask you to tell me which of my letters you’ve read. Her Jungian therapist sends her the reply “I’ve read it”. But maybe I’m better off not knowing, because this way my letters are hanging in the cyber space of uncertainty, and in my imagination I can choose which ones you read.

I am originally an engineer, but also studied in other academic departments (psychology, sociology, education, English...).
I wrote a book in Hebrew, published it, and translated to English. Michigan Uni. was interested in publishing it, but eventually the project was set aside.
I am now (Mar. 23) in the midst of translation studies and am open to working in various fields.
