Question #2:
Hello, I have a couple questions about this. It is a databank of topographical maps of Catalonia (for all counties and municipalities). This is listing the different "layers" (of data) available for a set of maps.

TIA!!

It looks like you're right--they're talking about shapes (lines and "polygons") used in the Arc/Info software package.

These are called "line features" and "polygon features" (alternately, "polygon features" are also called "area features"): http://www.gisdevelopment.net/tutorials/tuman002pf.htm

Reference: power lines

Reference information:
Hi Ben,

I'm thinking this might refer to power lines. If you search for "infraestructures auxiliars" you often get hits like this:

From http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:dQ4DDJtdfk0J:www.c...

In English you also frequently get hits like "Bird mortality caused by collisions with operating turbines and/or elements of auxiliary infrastructure, in particular overhead power lines; "

I haven't posted this as an answer since I'd like some other folks to weigh in on it, but this is my guess for what this question is referring to.
