Reference: clientelisme Reference information: Hi Berni, I'm pretty sure it's related to clientelisme: "m POLÍT Pràctica política o social basada en l'afavoriment de determinades persones, grups, etc. amb protecció econòmica i social o privilegis, com a compensació al suport polític o electoral. " From what I can see, "clientelisme" is often rendered along the lines of "the political machine." Not sure if there's a good adjective for it...I'll let you know if I can think of one! -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 21 mins (2012-11-02 17:44:14 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Taking a look around, I've found a few other translations of "clientelismo": - pork barrel spending (may be too narrow for this context) - political patronage - favoritism And a few other related terms that popped into mind: - pandering - cronyism |
