Translating a thriller,(British), this is how policemen are addressed. I assume that "I" might stand for "inspector", "S" for "superintendent" but I am not sure. Czech equivalent would be great, English explanation would be also appreciated. Thanks.

Detective Inspector
I don't know much about that stuff. It MIGHT be translated as "policejní vyetřovatel" or "komisař". Hope it helps...
