(un) potentiomètre

Explanation:
A potentiometer (also known as a pot or potmeter) is defined as a 3 terminal variable resistor in which the resistance is manually varied to control the flow of electric current. A potentiometer acts as an adjustable voltage divider.

So to avoid confusion if the asker is going to read this at one point in the future -
there is Potentiometer as electrical component (Popt) a Potentiometer as a measuring instrument but this is completely different. I don't see a use for electrical tape in electronics and in the little text we have it is clearly metionned->"...taping over tails and pot with electrical tape...."

Tony, man you are an engineer, what is the device that is used in an electrical circuit? And they re talking about electrical tape-all fits in place. I hate to contradict you my friend, just my two cents.. -:)

disagree  Tony M: It's just that 'potentiometer' wouldn't fit at all with the rest of the context; it would actually be more electronics than electrical, by definition what a pot. would be used for. I'm an engineer!

-> Attention-there is the electric and not electronic device-This article is about the electrical component. For the measuring instrument, see Potentiometer (measuring instrument). Source Wikipedia so "my" potentiometar is an electric and not electronic-
