English term or phrase: issued against
This Purchase Order is being issued against the License Agreement ...

Cette phrase apparemment simple me pose problème, doit-on comprendre que le bdc est émis "à l'encontre" de l'accord conclu ou "dans le cadre" de celui-ci ?

French translation:... dans le cadre de ..
Explanation:
Looks like this " License Agreement" functions here as a kind of "Accord cadre" -

So this "Purchase Order" would be issued as part of executing this " License Agreement"

It's probably more that simply an ordinary set of "Terms and Conditions" defining general rules for exploiting intellectual property, there is also a question of prices / timing / intended audience etc.

Merci Daryo. J'ai choisi cette option qui "cadre" tout à fait à mon contexte.

Explanation:
I do believe that 'against' here in this case deviates from its original meaning and refers to 'on the basis of' or 'within the bounds of'

agree  Eliza Hall: Yes. "Issued against" just sounds British to me -- in the US we might say "issued under."

neutral  Tony M: Yes, Eliza, it is indeed slightly old fashioned British commercial English — the sort of thing my mother used when she was a secretary back in the '30s!

agree  Eliza Hall: This works too. In fact it may be better, because the PO clearly isn't drafted in compliance with the license agreement; that's why it says the PO's terms don't apply.
