Avrei pensato a "cucciolate vitali" (viable litters) oppure "cucciolate svezzate", ma non sono del tutto convinto.

Ethylene glycol did not effect reproductive parameters in a 3-generation reproductive study in rats exposed to dosages as high as 1000 mg/kg/day. In mice, a small but significant decrease in the number of litters per breeding pair, in the number of live pups per pair and in the live pup weight. A significant number of pups in the 1.0% dose group were born with distinct facial deformities. In the retained litters at this dose, the facial deformities were more obvious with age. These malformed animals also exhibited fused ribs and shortened nasal, parietal, and/or frontal bones of the skull. When pups from the high dose group were raised to adulthood (with continued exposure to ethylene glycol) and mated, they exhibited decreased mating and fertility indices relative to controls handled in the same manner, but there were no effects on litter size, pup weight or sex ratio.

Ciao Gianluigi. Confermo la tua prima ipotesi come sinonomo di "viable litters", perché letteralmente indica i cuccioli "conservati ancora in vita", perciò sopravvissuti dopo il parto. Tanto è vero che, poco prima del termine in questione, si parla di "live pups", di cui, secondo me, il termine di domanda non è che una ripresa sinonimica.

Asker: Grazie, il dubbio riguarda quale dei due (tra vitali e svezzate) sia più consono. "Cicciolate" mi piace, ma penso che non lo userò :-)
