Sail hoisting

(1) Set the boom angle to the correct position. (See page 7.)
(2) Take the leeward runner fwd.
(3) Place the yacht in a head to wind position, or close-hauled course.
(4) Ease the mainsheet until the sail is unloaded. (ie: The boom should be parallel to the wind with sufficient mainsheet ease to move freely)
(5) Hoist the mainsail to desired position using the joystick lever (hoist)

Note: Ease the joystick lever back slowly and smoothly in order to unlock the mandrel before the hoist commences. To tension the luff of the sail move the joystick lever to the right. (tension luff) This will engage the boom mandrel lock and operate the halyard winch separately. ***Sheet the mainsail in*** and go sailing.

Allora…
SHEET – chiaramente significa scotta e parliamo di scotta della randa.
Invece, in questo caso sheet è riferito alle linee di riferimento di veleggiatura, cioè la migliore conformazione, vela che assume durante la regata secondo il punto di attacco e uscita del vento, praticamente la migliore posizione dei segnavento, così che la vela non sia troppo tesa o fileggi.
Ho molti manuali e glossari ma sono tutti cartacei, online l'unico riferimento che ho trovato è questo

Allora…
