defonologizacja Explanation: Celem artykułu jest rozważenie, jak motoryczna teoria percepcji mowy mogłaby wyjaśnić trudny teoretycznie problem częściowej defonologizacji (tzw. near-mergers w ujęciu W. Labova 1994). Teoria motoryczna wydaje się nie do pogodzenia ze zjawiskiem częściowej defonologizacji. Zakłada ona (w wersji Liberman, Mattingly 1985), że percepcja mowy to w swej istocie percepcja gestów fonetycznych, czyli percepcja mowy i wytwarzanie mowy nie są odrębnymi procesami i przebiegają w obrębie jednego modułu. Ponieważ zjawisko częściowej defonologizacji pokazuje brak symetrii między systemem fonologicznym zaangażowanym w wytwarzanie mowy i systemem fonologicznym zaangażowanym w jej percepcję (użytkownicy języka w sposób systematyczny wytwarzają kontrast między dwoma fonemami języka podlegającymi procesowi defonologizacji, 972: 236–7)5 . They involved the near-merger of such pairs of phonemes as the tense and lax high back vowels /uw/ and /u/ before /l/ observed in Salt Lake City and in the Southwest (fool – full, pool – pull); /ay/ and /oy/ in the contemporary dialect of Essex, Such was, for example, thecase of Labov’s interviewee, B.P., aged 80 (Western Pennsylvania), whose reading of minimal pairs like cot – caught, Don – Dawn clearly showed the effect of /o/ and /oh/ merger, whereas his pronunciation of those phonemes in spontaneous speech was clearly distinct (1994: 364). http://mbc.malopolska.pl/Content/89689/biuletyn_ptj_67.pdf |
