However, there was a non-significant trend towards the ratio of exposed-to-unexposed male cases having received 37.5 μg organic-Hg from three Thimerosal-containing hepatitis B vaccine doses in comparison to 0 μg organic-Hg from three no-Thimerosal hepatitis B-containing vaccine doses and/or no hepatitis B vaccinations within the first six months of life in comparison to the ratio of exposed-to-unexposed female cases (OR = 1.23, P = 0.33).

Explanation:
trend w statystyce to tyle co (często na wyrwę) dofitowanie metodą najmniejszych kwadratów prostej do wyników pomiarów. Ten stosunek (ratio) może być nawet w zakresie argumentu prostej, ale potocznie mówi się tak, gdy przewidujemy dane wystające poza zakres argumentów mierzonej (tj. próbkowanej) zmiennej losowej. Dlatego użyłem określenia ekstrapolacja. Wiąże się z tym bardzo szybki wzrost błędu (odchylenia standardowego) tak wyliczonej wartości.
Ta dofitowana prosta celuje w wielkość policzoną jako ratio.
Chyba można po polsku napisać "trend" bo przypuszczam tak się teraz mówi.
Ten tekst wyszedł chyba z ręki prawnika a nie naukowca, i jest wkurzający i po polsku i po angielsku. Zalecam wprowadzenie oznaczeń na wszystkie podane wielkości i przekształcenie tego słowotoku w formułę matematyczną.
Za użycie and/or powinni natychmiast usuwać z każdego wydziału naukowego uczelni.

disagree  Sebastian Siemieniec: wydaje mi się, że tutaj nie chodzi wyniki regresji, lecz korelacji, więc zapis powinien wyglądać tak (r = 1.23, p = 0.33). Określenia trend używa się zwykle, gdy osiągamy statystycznie nie-istotne wyniki. Ja przetłumaczyłbym jako "tendencja"
