Hello fellow translators, I'd appreciate help with this expresion (stake of ownership) in a book about redress policy for aboriginal peoples in North America

CONTEXT: "On the discursive level, contrasting perceptions of the histories of American and Canadian Indigenous boarding schools hold some explanatory power. In particular, the uneven and varied nature of American boarding school policy and its application might lessen, for some, the sense of absolute injustice of these institutions.
Canadian schools were generally relentless in their assimilative mission for a longer and less differentiated period than were similar institutions in the United States.
Moreover, because they tended to be more under the watch of Indian reformers, many, though certainly not all, American schools were more likely to harness softer forms of power, such as desire and symbolic violence. And American Indigenous groups appear to have been more likely, in general, to establish a STAKE OF OWNERSHIP in these institutions".

Asker: Thank you so much David, Sara, Andrés, it's a great mix of options and it makes me very confident that you all agreed. I will go along the lines of the aboriginal parents having a sense of ownership over the schools. My version: A nivel discursivo, podemos hallar cierto grado de explicación en las percepciones contrastantes de las historias de las escuelas residenciales indígenas estadounidenses y canadienses. En especial, el carácter más irregular y variado de la política residencial estadounidense y su aplicación podría haber disminuido, para algunos, el sentimiento de absoluta injusticia que emana de estas instituciones. Las escuelas canadienses han sido generalmente implacables e incesantes en su misión asimilatoria por un período más largo y más uniforme que sus pares en Estados Unidos. Además, dado que solían estar vigiladas por los reformistas en materia de política indígena, muchas escuelas estadounidenses, aunque ciertamente no todas, tendieron a utilizar formas más suaves de poder, como el deseo y la violencia simbólica. Y los grupos indígenas estadounidenses parecen haber sido más proclives a desarrollar una participación asertiva en la gestión de estas instituciones. VERY GRATEFUL!!!
