English term or phrase: micron
I'm not sure what "one micron" means and what its micrometer value would be. In a technical translation from English into Spanish, I have to convert US units to International System.

In US texts, "one mil" means 0.001 inches. So 1 micron should not mean 0.000001 inches?

Thank you!

micra

Explanation:
I have never heard of "one milli-inch", but maybe that's a US thing.
As far I'm concerned "one mil" = 1 millimetre = 0.001 m
Similarly "micron" = 1 micrometre = 0.000 001 m

In Spanish it's a "micra"

Note to reference poster
Asker: Entendido. "Microns" (en lengua inglesa) son unidades del Sistema Internacional, mientras que "mils" son unidades del Sistema Anglosajón. Muchas gracias!
