neutral  philgoddard: I don't think this is very likely. If he's a director, he wouldn't need to tell people that he was a senior manager.

  -> Thank you a lot. Maybe the abbreviation (TD) is added to the position title to indicate the manager's technical knowledge in the field, to impress clients. Anyhow, such self-assigned exaggerated tiltes are prevalent in the business nowadays.
