English term or phrase: Easy set up lead / lag pick off points
Question is about painting guns. More exactly, about powder application guns and their automatic control.

There are two things I'm not quite sure what they mean:

"lead / lag". Does it refer to leading / lagging edge of the spraying cone, or to leading / lagging edge of the part being painted. The part is or can be on the conveyor.

"pick off". Here I am quite confused. Does it mean starting the praying or stopping it, or both?

Explanation:
IMO here 'lead' and 'lag' refer to the time difference between the start and end of spraying and when the part to be painted passes a particular reference point. Spraying must start some time before the leading edge of the part arrives at the spraying location (lead time) and continue for some time after the trailing edge passes the location (lag time).

The pick-off points are the reference points for controlling the spray timing.
