Still with alarms and having difficulty getting my head round this bit.
The operator acknowledges the alarm, and if no other alarms, the warning lamp either stops flashing or goes out xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
TIA Chris.

Explanation:
I agree with Katsy's intelligent guess on this one — though clearly neither of us can do better than guess, since the source text is so garbled.

I suspect the writer was trying to say 'selon si l'état d'alarme demeure ou non' (in pidgin FR!)

You should try reading them first, Chris... I've already turned them down! ;-)

And maybe you're too cheap — by setting the bar a bit higher, I am mercifully spared this sort of time-waster. You should consider applying the same surcharge as you would for an illegible hand-written original, say...

Ah yes, now that would kind of make sense, wouldn't it? Would certainly explain things like 'demeurer' and 'reconnaissance'.

Notes to answerer
Asker: How come I get all the pidgin French documents? Been throwing all these words up in the air and see what order they come down in. If no more answers, you'll get the points.

Asker: I can't help wondering whether this was originally in Italian then translated into French. Would explain some of the dodgy bits.

agree  philgoddard: Don't think you need to say "or not".

-> Thanks, Phil! Personally, I always prefer to complete 'whether' by 'or not', especially in a case like this where they are describing a binary situation: warning light lit/unlit

agree  katsy: No problem Tony! But maybe another time I'll have more guts.... to follow my 'gut' instinct!

-> Thanks a lot, Katsy! Most generous of you... and if you'd care to submit an answer, I'll be only too happy to delete mine. :-) / Better start calling you 'Gutsy' then ;-)
