French term or phrase: délai partiel d’exécution
Building subcontracting contract special terms.

NB am aware of this entry: https://www.proz.com/kudoz/french-to-english/law-contracts/4...

"Conditions d’application

The terms which spring immediately to mind are "partial performance period" and "partial construction period". I think I'm going for "performance period" for délai d'exécution tout court. But my mind is open: in construction there is often some hesitation between "construction" and "performance", and also between "period" and "term". It is also not impossible that "partial" isn't right here either.

In short, it is possible there may be an exact EN translation for this, as used in the BTP field.

sub-deadline / for subcontractor completion /
Explanation:
The context is: 'Building *subcontracting* ... special terms':

A severable contract instalment deadline missed may turn the contract into a non-severable one: 'Les stipulations contractuelles peuvent cependant prévoir que ces pénalités ne sont appliquées que lorsque le dépassement d’un délai d’exécution partiel a pour effet un dépassement du *délai global du marché*.'

cf. Conor's idea of milestone as opposed to a deadline

Thanks. There is no "one-size-fits-all" for délai, but I find that "sub-deadline" works very well for this (and deadline in many cases for délai d'exécution).

partial execution deadline

Explanation:

There doesn't seem to be a standard term, but this is what it is.

Execution is preferred to performance as a legal term in project management circles.

Apart from the bit about "réception partielle", I would have called it a milestone (un jalon).

agree  philgoddard: Or you could translate the whole thing as "delay in completing all or part of the work".

agree  Sarah Baker: partial execution deadline or partial completion deadline would be my go-to solutions.

Example sentence(s):
  • he subcontractor was contractually liable for delay only if it failed to complete the subcontract works within the period or periods for completion
  • They divided the workflow into partitions and assigned each partition a sub-deadline, according to the minimum execution time of each task and the overall deadline of the workflow.
