French term or phrase: petains
I'm having difficulty with a few words in a text from Senegal. The text can be found at https://saxumtouba.net/.../touba-safinatoul-aman.../.

Apart from the typos and missing words, one of the words I'm having trouble with is 'petains'.

Any help would be most welcome.

English translation:(pouches? of) tobacco
Explanation:
Definition in Trésor de la Langue Française... the correct spelling being "pétun", seemingly:

"Vx. Tabac. Un pot en grès à mettre du pétun (GAUTIER, Fracasse, 1863, p.305). Ils allument de longues pipes de pétun (ROSTAND, Cyrano, 1898, IV, 3, p.162)."

NB note that the preceding items are also about the haram (presumably) activity of smoking.

-> Thanks... check out TdlLF: http://atilf.atilf.fr/tlf.htm : it suggests pétun... not 100% conclusive, but given the context...
