Promise of sale relating to a property in one of the TOM-DOM.

I'm finding this ambiguous.

This is in an RIB incorporated into the promise.

First there is the title, Relevé d'Identité Bancaire. Then the name "Caisse de Dépôts", then Trésorerie SAINT MARTIN, Rue du Marécage...".

After this comes: Domiciliation: DEPARTEMENT NUMERAIRE.

This is then followed by the Code Banque, Code Guichet, No. de compte and Clé RIB...

On balance, I think this means "Legal Tender Department".

But it seems to me that it could conceivably refer to the Département (i.e. the geographical unit), in which case it would mean "The Département with this number". But if that is the meaning, why designate it that way?

Isn't the act of domiciliation of an account going to be implemented in a specific geographical spot? Wouldn't it therefore be a bit odd to say an account was domiciled in a given department of a bank?

Either solution seems to be a bit strange.

It definitely means a department of an organization.

You could say something like "reference" or "for the attention of" for "domiciliation".

Explanation:
In France, each administrative district (département) has a number. Since this term appears in the context of an address, I think the department number is what they are looking for here.

Asker: Thanks... from <i>domicilier</i>: "Établir, fixer dans un endroit comme domicile." It's about saying where geographically an account is held. So saying "in such and such a department of a bank" is a bit odd. Also bear in mind that <i>département</i> could be something of a faux ami here: <i>service</i>, yes, <i>division</i> (larger), yes, <i>agence</i> ("branch"), yes. But I have doubts that <i>département</i> means "department" in a bank.
