Outsoles Explanation: OK, my Discussion comment about parsing was wrong! https://www.iso.org/standard/51175.html "ISO 20869:2010 Footwear -- Test method for outsoles, insoles, linings and insocks -- Water soluble content" https://www.iso.org/fr/standard/51175.html "ISO 20869:2010 Chaussures -- Méthode d'essai applicable aux premières de montage, aux doublures, aux premières de propreté et aux semelles d'usure -- Détermination des substances solubles dans l'eau" -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 22 hrs (2019-06-15 13:34:30 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- @ Asker That is a very good question. Is it possible that mistranslation has found its way into an ISO standard? According to these two pictures, the "première de montage" is the insole! In fact, looking at the ISO citations again, the order of listing is clearly different and the French one looks like it is from the inside to the outside, while the English one seems to be outside to inside. That would mean that the outsole is the "semelle d'usure", which makes sense and could also be called the "Semelle de marche". https://www.clicepi.fr/blog/category/chaussure-de-securite/p... https://docplayer.fr/16431663-La-collection-walk-on.html In fact, if a boot is constructed on a last, the first piece to be laid on the last would have to be the insole, so there is a sort of logic here in the French. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 4 days (2019-06-19 09:05:29 GMT) Post-grading -------------------------------------------------- NB. The header term on my answer is wrong, see my added note above. I have corrected the header term for the KOG. |
