I am currently translating a publication that compiles the data from other publications on CAM use in Japan. I am currently at a section where the author is describing the different categories used for types of people who use CAM in the publications that they researched and there are two that are giving me a bit of trouble. The second one is 薬理系有症者.

Here is the context (with names changed)

All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

symptomatic people who received medication
Explanation:
Judging from the description, especially the last part, it may be differentiating people with symptoms in two categories; the other group received medication, which is what you are asking here.
