race-side odds caller at trotting event Explanation: the one who marks the odds for betting at the side of the track -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2004-08-29 11:55:51 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Nota Bene - My colleague Counsel has quite rightly pointed out that course side betting is illegal in Norway. The \'odds setter\', therefore, that you are looking for is working in a \'Bookies\' and, in Ireland at least , these are called \'Odds Assessors\' when they have the specific job of calculating the odds on races. Otherwise we just call them \'bookies\', or \'book keepers\' to be more formal. We also have another name for them which is not repeatable over the web and on the Day of Our Lord! |
