neutral  Boris Shapiro: That Etsy link proves very little, as 'resin' there can easily be a modifier for 'holders'. As for that prepper's vid, it is not the kind of candle one can imagine in a Russian Orhodox context.

disagree  Boris Shapiro: На видео обычная свечка производства фирмы GUM. Из gum, то есть камеди, свечи не делают - это не горючее вещество. Magic имеет нейтральные (а для современного читателя зачастую и положительные) коннотации, что в данном случае неуместно.

neutral  Turdimurod Rakhmanov: black candle could have two meanings, colour and bad ? I think magic would render clearer meaning. Тогда как лучше перевести "Смоляные чёрные свечи" думаю только "black" не достаточно.
