lithic chaînes opératoires / lithic operational sequences Explanation: The former is probably to be preferred, but the latter is also used and would be perfectly acceptable. "Chaîne opératoire" will be pluralised by following French morphological rules, adding an s to each word. Some people italicise it (as a foreign expression), and personally I'd be inclined to do so, though many don't. "These contrasting lithic chaînes opératoires are difficult to explain if early modern humans and Neandertals shared the same cultural identity." John Shea, in Archaeologies of the Middle East: Critical Perspectives, ed. Susan Pollock & Reinhard Bernbeck, p. 138 https://books.google.es/books?id=bRUMQb_1uKcC&pg=PA138&lpg=P... "Archaeological opinion differs over whether variants of Acheulian LCT production fit the criteria for such techno— logical traditions or whether variable lithic operational sequences of Middle Paleolithic antiquity better fit the bill." Same author in his book Stone Tools in the Paleolithic and Neolithic Near East: A Guide, p. 314 https://books.google.es/books?id=oMQgAwAAQBAJ&pg=PA314&lpg=P... |
