Tech/Engineering - Mechanics / Mech Engineering / Construction lift/elevator
Spanish term or phrase: caja de equipo
Part of a sworn statement by a Spanish-speaking employee in California regarding an injury resulting from a construction elevator on a construction project.
The employee is describing the training he received:

El Sr. XXXX y yo recibimos instrucciones sobre cómo energizar el elevador, que incluyó (1) encender el generador temporal, que se utilizó para alimentar el elevador; (2) ajustar la potencia del generador (...); (3) activar el primer y segundo interruptores de desconexión del ascensor, ubicados (...); y (4) activar el interruptor de palanca ubicado dentro de la **caja de equipo** en la cabina del ascensor.

This is referring to some kind of lever switch/joystick located, it seems, within the elevator cab, in a "caja de equipo". "Equipment box" definitely doesn't sound right to me - I'm thinking "control box" or "control panel" or something like that. However, he could easily have said "caja de control", but didn't.

The setup is very similar, it seems, to the diagram here: https://alimak.com/product/alimak-mammoth/

Into U.S. English.
Any thoughts?

Explanation:
(interruptor de palanca is a switch lever.)
For control panel one would expect panel de control. However caja de equipo is within the normal range of variance.

I have also seen a number of other Spanish expressions for "control panel", e.g. "panel de la caja de control". This suggests that it is not cast in stone, and may even be company jargon.
