Spanish term

ascenso

Spanish to English Medical Medical: Dentistry Endodontics
I am translating undergraduate dentistry program study topics from Spanish (Colombia) to English (UK).

The term "ascenso" is used in the following text:

"ascenso y determinación de la conductometría de un incisivo maxilar superior"

The meaning of the term "ascenso" is unclear in the context.

This is what I have so far:

and determination of the working length in an upper incisal
Proposed translations (English)
3 root lenght measurement

Clueless!
Sorry!

More context As I said before, I'm translating the study plan or syllabus for an undergraduate dentistry program from a Colombian university,
Here's some more detail.
During the fourth academic period, one of the classes students take is Endodontics.
The syllabus for that course consists of a list of bullets with brief descriptions of topics and laboratory activities.
Below is a relevant excerpt of the bullet list verbatim.

Thomas Walker Jun 7, 2020:
More context Please include more context, as much as you can. At least a couple of sentences before the phrase in the question & a couple of sentences after. But better the whole paragraph or section.

root lenght measurement

For the root canal process, the dentist needs to determine how much the root enters the maxilla. There are two ways to do this, one is through an x-ray. I think "ascenso" in this case refers to exactly this, because it measures "how high" it goes into it.

So the whole sentence might be root lenght measurement and working lenght for a root canal procedure on an upper maxillary incisor".
Something went wrong...
