Medical - Medical (general) / Urology - Prostatectomy Pathology Report
Spanish term or phrase: LPD/LPI
The following appears in a pathology examination report for a radical prostatectomy specimen:

DESCRIPCIÓN MACROSCÓPICA
Pieza de prostatectomía radical que mide 3.2 x 3 x 2.8 cm. 19 Blq.
Códigos de secciones: blq. 1 API; blq. 2 CVI; blq. 3-8 LPI; blq. 9 APD; blq. 10 CVD; blq. 11-17 LPD; blq. 18-19 VSD.
The following text occurs in the Diagnosis section for the above:
Bordes de resección: afectados, en ápex izquierdo y en vesícula seminal derecha.

The other specimens examined are:
Left seminal vesicle;
Bladder neck margin;
Left lymph node dissection;
Right lymph node dissection.

Can anyone help with LPI/LPD?
I have considered “lateral posterior izquierda/derecha” or “lóbulo posterior izquierdo/derecho”, but am really uncertain.
I have assumed the following:
API/APD = Ápex posterior izquierdo/derecho.
CVI/CVD – Cuello vesical izquierdo/derecho.
VSD = Vesícula seminal derecha.

Left prostate lobe/right prostate lobe
Explanation:
The prostate has a median, a lateral and a posterior lobe.
In turn, the lateral lobe is divided into left prostate lobe and right prostate lobe.
(lóbulo prostático derecho, LPD and lóbulo prostático izquierdo, LPI).

Hi Edier and thanks for your suggestion and explanation. With references made to the apex and bladder neck, I was expecting something indicatiing the mid region. Your suggestion makes sense and I used it in my translation, with added comments. Cheers,
John
