I am an American librarian, fluent in both peninsular and Latin American Spanish. I have worked in and managed technical, medical, and engineering/architecture/math libraries. I have also worked as a bilingual communications coordinator for a public school district, translating school communications ranging from posters and letters to parents to legal disclaimers and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and interpreting in settings as diverse as health and dental clinics, parent-teacher conferences, IEP meetings, disciplinary meetings, and public events.

Diploma de Español como lengua extranjera, level C2 (mastery/superior), awarded by Spanish government. C2 is the highest proficiency level in the European language accreditation system.

I worked for a year in nonprofit fundraising and grant writing in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, as an Americorps*VISTA volunteer.

I have studied Spanish language and culture in Seville, Madrid, and Oviedo, Spain. I was a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar to Spain, completing the equivalent of 30 American credit hours in literature in the Spanish Filology Department of the University of Oviedo, Oviedo, Spain.

I am a member of the American Translators Association (ATA) and am currently working toward obtaining ATA certification.
