Forum: Hebrew
Topic: SDL Trados Studio 2009 - problems with Hebrew
Poster: Ine Ramaekers
Post title: Was this issue ever solved?
Doron Greenspan MITI wrote:

Hi,

I've been meaning to write this for a while now, but wanted to test it well first before continuing.

So, after testing Studio 2009 SP2 on two different OSs (Vista & 7), two different pcs and two different keyboards (who knows?), I came to the conclusion that the interface still cannot handle Hebrew very well at all.

I was hoping to hear from other Hebrew users of Studio 2009 SP2 to see if they encountered these erratic cursor/keyboard issues (all in the Eng>Heb direction):

1. The Home and End keys don't work properly on the Hebrew side. I.e., they don't move the cursor to the beginning or the end of a line, as expected.

2. Even when the cursor goes to the end of a segment, it seems to stand before (to the right of) the full stop. (Although it's actually at the very end, since a left arrow will take it to the next segment.)

Did I miss something or is it a serious problem?

Thanks, Doron
Did you ever fix this problem? I don't work from Hebrew, but I now have this happening as well, from Spanish into Dutch, it'll stop before the last character in a segment. First time this has happened to me in decades of working with Studio, I am very, very confused. I hope this is not some permanent thing, because it is massively annoying.

Hardback. Ex-library copy. 294 pp.

Dictionary of Telecommunications and Electronics. Hardback. English-Hebrew and Hebrew-English. Masada Publishing.

2 volume Technical Dictionary. Prof. S.G. Ettingen. Hebrew-English-French-German-Russian. Hardbacks. Yavne Tel-Aviv. 1800 pp approx.

I also have the 5-volume edition of the comprehensive general dictionary by Reuben Alkali. However, his would be quite heavy to post.

Please let me know whether you are interested in any of these and I can supply further details. I would not ask enormous sums for them, mostly just to cover postage and packing (depending on where your home address is). I live in Sussex, England. If you live nearby perhaps you could come to collect.

I should just like them to go to someone who would appreciate them.

Please contact me privately at if you are interested.

Best regards,
Peter Racher
I stopped over in TEL AVIV, Israel on transit to switch to my flight to Georgia. The airline made a mistake in our reservation. They didn’t put the information in the computer well. They made us wait in Tel AVIV for around 28 hours. I went inside of a restaurant located inside the airport to eat something but I was overcharged. I think they saw that I was a tourist and I didn’t speak Hebrew.

My problem is that I can’t read the sales restaurant receipt because is written in The Hebrew language and unfortunately I don’t have full knowledge of the language.

I need to figure out the name of the restaurant, the information written in the restaurant sales receipt and other things written in that receipt.

I will appreciate your help and cooperation to find out the restaurant name and the information written in the receipt.

Spanish native speakers living in Israel, feel free to write me in Spanish.

Best regards,

Yugoslavia
Poster: Shai Navé
Post title:
