The Beginning

All in a moment, years ago,
The boy I was became a man:
Suddenly my life began!
I saw the world before me— So
That ploughman by his horses stands
Sweating on the first hill's brow,
Having left the riverlands
Furrowed in the vale below,
And sees a mountainside to plough,
Barren rock to blunt his share,
Thunder hanging in the air,
And the black peak above him, bare,
Waiting now.
—Let him plough it if he dare!

መጀመሪያው

ሁሉም በአንድ ቅጽበት፣ ከዓመታት በፊት፣
ወጣቱ ልጅ የነበርኩት፣ ጎልማሳ ወንድ ሆኜ አረፍኩት:
እንደድንገትም ተጀመረ ሕይዎቴ!
አዬኋት ዓለምን ከፊት-ለፊቴ - ታዲያማ
ያ አራሽ ሰው የሚቆም ከፈርሶቹ ጎን
በኮረብታው ቀዳሚ ግንባር ላይ እያፈሰስ ላቡን፣
እርግፍ አድርጎ ጥሎ የሄደው የወንዝ ዳር መሬቱን ለቆ
የቀደደውን ፈር እዚያ ታች ከረባዳው ሸለቆ፣
እና የሚፈልግ ለማረስ የዚያን ኮረብታ ጥጉን፣
መካን ድንጋያማ ጭንጫ የሆነ ለማዶዶም ማረሻውን፣
ነጎድጓዱ በአየር ላይ ተንጠልጥሎ፣
ከበላዩ ያለው ጥቁሩ የኮረብታ ጫፍም፣ ራቁቱን ቆሞ፣
አሁን እዬጠበቀ ያለው።

ክልጅነት ወደ አዋቂነት ፤የተሸጋገርኩበት፡
በድንገት ህይወቴ ተጀመረ!
ዓለምን ከፊቴ አየሁ— እናም
ገበሬው በፈረሶቹ አጠገብ ቆሞ
እያላበው በመጀመሪያው ኮረብታ አናት ዳር ላይ፣
ወንዝ ዳር የሚታረስ መሬት አስቀርተዋል፣
እንዲሁም ክኮረብታዎችን ጎን የሚታረስ ያያል ፤
መካን አለት የራሱ አድካሚ ድርሻ ፤
ነጎድጓድ በአየር ውስጥ ተንጠልጥሏል ፣
እንዲሁም በላዩ ላይ ያለው ጥቁር ደመና ጫፍ፣ ባዶ ሆኖ፣
አሁን በመጠበቅ ላይ ነው።

ከልጅነት ወደ ሙሉ ሰውነት መጣሁ፤
በድንገት ህይወቴ ተጀመረ!
ከእኔ በፊት ዓለምን አየኋት-ስለዚህ
ከፈረሶቹ አጠገብ የቆመው ገበሬ
በመጀመሪያው ኮረብታ አናት ላይ እየጠረገ፣
ወንዞቹን ለቅቆ በመሄድ ላይ
ከታች ባለው ሸለቆ ውስጥ ተቋርጦ፣
ለማረስ ኮረብታዎችን ያያል ፣
መካኑ ዓለት ድርሻውን ያደበዝዝበታል፣
ነጎድጓድ በአየር ውስጥ ሲያንጎደጉድ፣
እንዲሁም ከሱ በላይ ያለው ጥቁር ጫፍ ፣
ባዶውን በመጠበቅ ላይ ነው።
