Hi, I'm Dinusha and I have translated a French Novel to Sinhala (native language of Sri Lanka) before publishing the work I need to obtain the translation rights. So I have contacted the Author & both Authors publisher. Authors publisher wh is responsible for foreign rights informed me that she will forward the mail to the Author since they are not handling the translation rights and that it will be given by the author. Also the author confirmed me and expressed that she like to give the rights and asked me to contact her assistant. And now the Author's assistant has contacted my publisher:and they want to know the terms and conditions? How to establish this contract? What details should we include in the letter?
Please note the part of the mail received from the publisher's assistant: "...would be happy to transfer copyright to you and she would like to know your requirements. Could you specify the conditions that you propose?"
Also the author informed me the following" "Il faudrait maintenant lui renvoyer un message avec la proposition de contrat, avec les droits etc."
Can someone please help me with this as how to establish a translation rights and publication of the translation rights contract? If I could see a sample letter it would be great or if someone could guide me in this I would be really grateful... ▲ Collapse
