Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) is a hormone that is released by the cells of the developing placenta. During the first weeks following conception, levels of hCG are detectable in urine and serum, making this hormone an excellent marker for early pregnancy.
The XXX Pregnancy device can detect hCG concentrations as low as 25mIU/ml (Based on WHO XXXX). This allows detection of pregnancy as early as 7 - 10 days after conception and before the first missed menses 2. If the first test should prove negative however, it should be repeated a few days later, unless menstruation occurs.
SPECIMEN
Fresh clear serum (plasma is not suitable) free from turbidity, or urine samples that have been collected in clean glass or plastic containers may be used.
Samples should be stable for 1 - 2 days at 2 to 8°C. For longer storage samples should be frozen. Ensure thorough defrosting and allow sample to come to room temperature before use.
