Texte source - anglais I found the poem the next day. I was still getting nowhere with my speech, so I wandered in the bee garage where I picked up the white beekeeper’s hat and put it on, pulling the fine white mesh veil down my face. I suppose that I wanted Chuck to come and see me and laugh and maybe to tell me that, if you looked at the mesh and the hat in a certain way while certain girls had it on, it looked a lot like a bridal veil. I waited for a while, but this didn’t happen so I took off the hat and when I did a tiny white piece of paper fell out of it, fluttering down to the floor. This is what it said:
I ask them to take a poem
And hold it up the light
Like a color slide
Or press an ear against its hive
I won’t lie: it was scary. It seemed to have been stuck up inside the hat so it would stay there until someone put it on. What was more strange was that it seemed to have been written to me by someone who had been able to imagine that one day I would show up, the new Bee Girl, and would be sure to put the hat on. So I took it and showed it to Chuck.
Traduction - français J’ai trouvé le poème le lendemain. Je n’arrivais à rien avec ma présentation, alors je me suis promenée dans la miellerie et j’ai ramassé le casque blanc d’apiculteur que j’ai posé sur ma tête puis j’ai laissé le voile fin tomber sur mon visage. Je crois que je voulais que Chuck arrive, me voit et rigole, et peut être qu’il me dise que, si on les regardait sous un certain angle quand certaines filles les portaient, ça ressemblait à un voile de mariée. J’ai attendu longtemps, mais il n’est pas venu alors j’ai retiré le casque et à ce moment un petit morceau de papier blanc en est tombé, virevoltant jusqu’au sol. Voilà ce qui y était écrit :
Venez donc porter ce poème
Et puis dessous la lumière
Telle une pellicule
Ou pressez l’oreille à sa ruche
Je ne vais pas mentir : ça m’a fichu la frousse. Il semblait qu’il avait été coincé dans le casque pour qu’il reste là jusqu’à ce que quelqu’un le mette. Ce qui était le plus étrange c’est qu’il semblait avoir été écrit rien que pour moi par quelqu’un qui avait pu s’imaginer qu’un jour je viendrais, moi, la nouvelle fille aux abeilles, et que je mettrais forcément le casque. Alors je l’ai pris et je l’ai amené à Chuck.

Traduction - français — Je suis la nouvelle fille aux abeilles, lui dis-je. Je dois donner un cours sur les abeilles.
— Eh bien, dit-il, il ne va pas falloir PIQUER du nez.
— Je vais m’y mettre DARD-DARD .
— Peut-être, ma REINE, que si tu es tout sucre tout MIEL ils te laisseront prendre des vacances.
