Decided to start my new career path in Linguistics after a break from the previous job. I want to do something that I enjoy and be able to earn a living out of it. I have solid foundation in languages of Chinese, English and Malay thank to the education system in Malaysia. A total of 16 years of education from primary to the university that was conducted in these 3 languages has empowered me with the amazing linguistic capability. 

Apart of all the formal input to what I am capable of today, my growing up as a native Chinese has also made me capable in speaking Cantonese, Hokkien and Teochew. As a result, I poses the ability of speaking 6 languages in total.

I graduated as a BSc (Honours) in Forensic Science followed by working for the Government Dept. of Chemistry, Malaysia. After a couple of years of working in the laboratory, I decided to venture into the commercial world where I worked in business development. 

The new chapter of life unfolded when I moved to UK after married. The motherhood began and I am a full time mother since then. I had part-time job in supportive role like administrative officer, and eventually developed into more skillful roles like recruitment lead and tender and bid support where I gained new skills like project management, resourcing and bid writing.

After 9 years of experience in commercial world, I prefer to become a linguist where I see it as a meaningful pursue where I will enjoy a success from my passion and make a living out of it. I know it is a rocky path but with determination, I will get there.

Currently an affiliate with UK Charted Institute of Linguists, aiming to achieve the charted qualification in both Translation and Public Service Interpreting within 2 years. 

Besides paid translation work, I am also a volunteer translator with TED conferences; as well as upcoming translation task with Animals Asia Org.
