I have to agree about this probably being a back-translation. That was my first impression, at any rate.

I don't think it's a generally accepted term. It's probably a poor back-translation. My "guess" is the original was 'intermediate systems' (which makes sense between 'host' and 'XXX'.

I honestly don't see what the capitalization is doing there. Any chance they mean "sistemas DE medios", i.e. "media systems"?
