Pflegen Sie Ihren Erfolg!

German to English Marketing Textiles / Clothing / Fashion
I'm looking for minds that are feeling a bit more creative than mine at the moment!

I am translating a marketing letter from a company which makes specialised detergents and cleaning agents for fine fabrics. "Pflegen Sie Ihren Erfolg!" is the heading. Obviously the "pflegen" bit is a wordplay linked to the Pflegemitteln that they produce. But I'm not sure how to express this in English. "Take care of your success" or "Look after your success" sound almost threatening to my ear? Or do others think one of these sounds ok? Any other suggestions welcome.

Many thanks!

Susan Madden (asker) Jan 31, 2006:
Hi Francis, good point, apols for omitting this important info. It's directed at clothes manufacturers.
Francis Lee (X) Jan 31, 2006:
Is this a "marketing letter" directed at end customers or e.g. retailers?
BrigitteHilgner Jan 31, 2006:
My spontaneous idea were "look after" and "care for" - so I have no problem with your own suggestions.

this could elicit a lot of response but I'll confine myself to asking whether you didn't get out of bed on the wrong side this morning?

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks to everyone who put their creative hats on for this one. Always amazed by the great suggestions from ProZers! Although it's not as close to the original as many of the other good suggestions here, I felt a real spark when I read this phrase and so it's the one I went with. Thanks CMJ_Trans for your inspiration!"

Cultivate your profits

I think in marketing term success means profit. I can be take care/look after of your profits
or
have success with "the company name"
Peer comment(s):

agree Steve Yates : Definitely 'your profits' but prefer 'Look after/Take care of..'

Protect your success!

I think people often talk of "protection" in the context of fine fabrics. So maybe that will keep the wordplay...

Our formulas for your success

I don't know what to write here, so here's a joke instead:

One day in pre-season, Liverpool FC's man in Baghdad rings up Rafael Benitez ...
"Rafael, you're not going to believe this, but we've found this 17 year-old Iraqi kid who makes Diego Maradonna look like an amateur. You've got to come over and check him out."

So Benitez flies off to Baghdad, sees the youngster play football, is massively impressed and signs him on the spot.

First match of the season, Liverpool vs Man Utd, 20 mins left and Liverpool are losing 4 - 0. The Iraqi newbie is still on the bench, and Benitez decides he has nothing to lose by giving the youngster a run. The Iraqi kid comes on, scores 5 goals and Liverpool win 5 - 4.

Really excited, the kid rings up his Mum to tell her what happened... "Mum! Mum! This new life is great. We were losing 4 - 0, the manager brought me on, I scored 5 goals and we won 5 - 4. The fans love me, the manager loves me, the players love me, the press love me, it's absolutely wonderful!"

His mother replies: "Well that's all well and good, but while you've been off enjoying yourself on the football field, your dad's been robbed at gunpoint, your brother's been thrown in prison, and your sister's been kidnapped!"

The boy replies guiltily: "Oh mum! I don't know what to say..."

"Don't say anything", his mother replies, "It's your fault we moved to Liverpool in the first place!"
Peer comment(s):

agree Francis Lee (X) : you want to forward that one to LFC fan Nick (Watson?)
