Estimados colegas:
a) Mucho
b) Suficiente
c) Regular
d) Poco
This is what I have:
With respect to the classes you are taking, you think you have been learning:
a) A lot
b) Enough
c) Fairly much
d) Little

not enough
'not enough maintains a balance between the top and botton ends of th scale:
a) A lot
b) Enough
c) Not enough
d) Little (= not a lot)
'Average', or 'middling', if included in such a scale, would come between Enough and Not enough

average
En este contexto yo usaría average... You feel you are learning:
c) an average amount
c) an average amount

Fairly enough no quiere decir insuficiente...

: In Spanish, "regular" may have a negative connotation which it doesn't have in English, and I suggest this is the case here, since the option of "regular" is situated at less than "suficiente". I believe "average" isn't negative enough in this context.

Thank you for your comment, GoodWords. I think I like "not much" better in this case.

: it is not uncommon for a 4-step scale to be used, with no 'average' choice (as in the source text), because when 'average' is in the list everyone uses it without thinking. You cannot (at least, should not) transpose 5-point terms to a 4-point scale.

Hello Mediamatrix and thank you for your comments. I don't see a problem in changing this particular 5-point scale to a 4-point scale in this case, as "very much" and "a lot" mean about the same thing. I'd just leave one of them out.

more or less
Pero "more or less" responde a la pregunta "How much are you learning?"
a) Mucho - a lot
b) Suficiente - enough
c) Regular - more or less
d) Poco - very little / not enough
así es como yo lo entiendo... (como respondería a estas preguntas)
