I think "load startup" is fine and makes total sense. Also, the difference between "Initial Startup" and "load startup" is hard to say, since it probably depends on the object on which the functions are found. Is this a digital camera or something that you're working with?

イニシャル起動→Program initializing on startup

The switching hub is different from the other, regular hubs in that you can configure individual ports as well as the hub, so that you can manage and optimize your network data flow to some extent.

I have never used a switching hub, but I know a network switch and here is how it works, sort of.

When you boot it for the first time after installation, it loads a factory (default) config setting as well as a little file called Boot-CMOS. They are both stored in a flash memory. Then, you plug your computer (w/ monitor) to the switch, or access remotely, and start configuration.

When you are done with configuration, you save it to a new config file and tell the switch to load it, instead of the factory default setting (file). It is possible to create and edit many versions of this config file, store them somewhere other than the memory, and when necessary you copy it to the switch.

So... I think, this particular switch #9 manages Startup setting. By default (when you take it out of the box for the first time), ON is selected (= 工場出荷設定), telling the switch to load a config file when booted. It either loads your config file (after configuration) or a factory default config file (first time only, because there is no other config file available). I think many companies call this mode as runtime-mode.

As for イニシャル起動,　I'm not sure 100 %, but knowing the switch I do not believe this literally initializes it by wiping out any user-config settings. It shouldn't be this easy. It's either just load a BOOT-CMOS file, or load both BOOT-CMOS and factory-default setting. You need to boot the switch in this mode in order to run diagnostics or perform some maintenance work. I think it's called system-mode somewhere.

Both ロード起動　and イニシャル起動 are confusing カタカナ英語. Load Startup in English means, as far as I know, to load Startup Items/groups/programs, and it's one of the operating system's startup options. イニシャル起動 in Japan used to mean "soft reset", restarting a computer without pressing on/off switch, but it does not apply here.

Conejo-san, now I'm pretty sure from other posts ... You are talking about a VIDEO switcher, not a switching hub? The latter is a type of networking product. They are not quite alike, but both provide "traffic-control" functions and they are both programmable/configurable (and probably rack-mountable too!).

Then, イニシャル起動 might be to bring the state of the switcher to its default, clean slate state, zapping all the custom configuration settings. ロード起動 is the same - to load the programmed config info when it starts. If my guessins was still off, please let me know ;-)
