Here's the context:
Die Ethernet-Schnittstellendaten des PGs/PCs erhalten Sie über die Systemsteuerung von WINDOWS. Wählen Sie dort das **Icon Netzwerk- und DFÜ-Eigenschaften** durch Doppelklick an. Markieren Sie das Netz mit der rechten Maustaste und wählen im Kontextmenü den Eintrag EIGENSCHAFTEN.
Can anyone tell me the correct name of this Control Panel icon? I looked but couldn't seem to find it in my own Control Panel (I am running Vista, so maybe that's why).
I would guess something along the lines of Network and RAS Properties.

Network and data transmission properties
Netzwerk is network and DFÜ is Daten Fern Übertragung. DFÜ is simply data transmission and can also be called remote data transmission. I chose the word transmission for short since it is the umbrella term for data transmitall. EIGENSCHAFTEN is PROPOERTIES in an English OS. As for the icon you are lookling for it is the NETWORK CONNECTION icon within the control panel on an XP based system.

This morning, I remembered that my laptop still has XP on it and so I was able to track down the exact icon on Control Panel. It seems that the icon in question is indeed Network Connections, as suggested by Kcda. I think it is also simply Netwerkverbindungen in the German interface, but the author chose to embellish a little and added und DFU-Eigenschaften to throw us all off!

RAS
DFÜ is the abbreviation for Datenfernübertragung and means connecting to the internet via a dial connection similar to telephone. This is how you go online with modems. I would suggest Data transfer properties or RAS . I read in an forum, that the windows term for DFÜ is indeed RAS.

"EDI" (electronic data interchange) is also a possibility for DFÜ, in fact I've been seeing that more frequently lately.
