Hi! In Brazilian Portuguese, they talk about "mecanismos de controle social", which I believe is roughly referring to mechanism either for social change, or, societal monitoring/accountability of the government.
But I have never found a very good translation, does anyone have any suggestions?

Muito obrigada pela sugestão,
mas eu estava pensando mais em 'controle sociale' no sentido de controle da sociedade do governo,
e "social control" em inglês tem sentido de governo impor controles para a sociedade, que é o sentido oposto.
Mas recibi a sugestão de "public oversight", que me parece muito boa, se vocês têm alguma outra sugestão agradeceria recebí-las tambêm
