Make that "than his articles are padded/fleshed out to the extreme".
Still, it seems odd to me that one should manage to be verbose without being repetitive.

There could be two different meanings here. Without more context, we cant' be sure. But, the sentence is semantically ambiguous and linguistically complicated.
More literally, it says "His style is no more repetitive than he is a rambler (in his articles)."
Two possible meanings here
1) He's neither redundant nor is he a rambler
2) He is indeed redundant (yes, we know that), but he's really a rambler.
It's a tricky sentence, for sure. By the way, this could be a woman, not a man.

Is it a criticism or a compliment? That's the question. This sentence has tired me out for the evening.
