French term

conduire à une mauvaise observance

French to English Science Medical: Health Care Skin conditions
"Les agents antiacnéiques administrés par voie topique entraînent des effets secondaires et les caractéristiques physiologiques de certains d’entre eux, tels que la trétinoïne et le peroxyde de benzoyle, conduisent à une mauvaise observance."

Can anyone enlighten me as to the meaning of 'conduire à une mauvaise observance' please? I've never heard of it, don't know the exact meaning and therefore have no idea where to start to translate it into English.

Any help much appreciated.

TIA

Vicky

lead to poor compliance

because I didn't like bad rather than poor, results was the wrong verb form for the sentence and Michael's answer was too long. Yes, as a matter of fact I should be working.

may be associated with poor adherence

as the reference says:
"An estimated half of those for whom medicines are prescribed do not take them in the recommended way. Until recently this was termed "non-compliance", and was sometimes regarded as a manifestation of irrational behavior or willful failure to observe instructions, although forgetfulness is probably a more common reason. But today health care professionals prefer to talk about "adherence" to a regimen rather than "compliance".

That is , the patient does not follow the recommended treatment...
