reference number
Norstedts Stora Svensk-Engelska Ordbok gives the translation 'designation' for 'beteckning', but in this context I think it is too vague. Designation of what? (I'm no big fan of Norstedts Stora Svensk-Engelska Ordbok, btw...The English-Swedish one is brilliant, though.) Ref. no. is also a standard phrase in English that everyone will understand and I think it covers the meaning well in this case (without having seen the whole context, mind).
